Never Far Gone (NFG) is tailored to those looking to escape their reality, also known as Escapism, and dive into the world of a Post-apocalyptic Setting. Where resources are scarce and danger looms around every corner, Never Far Gone introduces a new outlook on Survival, while ultimately focusing on Character Development, Action, & Realism.

The Theme of Never Far Gone is Control, or lack thereof, as well as the role Morality can play in the choices we make. As shown throughout the many unexpected events that unfold throughout the story, it’s clear that no matter how much power or influence one possesses, it is impossible to control every situation we’re faced with.

While developing the story, it was made clear how susceptible people could be to losing their grasp on who they really are, yet there is always a chance to turn their lives around for the better. Although this decision is ultimately up to each person, it is possible for even the most immoral beings to revert from their current course and strive for the Path of Redemption. Hence, Never Far Gone.

As someone who has lived in New York City for over 20 years (as shown in my Author’s Bio ), I have come to closely understand the Infrastructure of the city, especially when it comes to the Metro System. This Infrastructure plays a key role in the development of the Thrivers, as well as how they’ve managed to maintain their influence throughout the city.

Furthermore, the tight city streets and countless residential buildings allow the readers to experience, firsthand, what Urban Survival would look like in a post-apocalyptic setting. This also adds the feeling of Isolation to the story.

While there is no definitive answer as of right now, Ambiguity is key. The focus of the book isn’t on the Infection, but rather on how the characters adapt to the situations that have been presented because of it.
